Janssen Cosmetics

The skincare we use most, and the line Elisabeth settled on after many years of trying others.

Janssen is German and sits in the cosmeceutical category, a step below medical skincare. In practice that means a higher concentration of active ingredients than you find in ordinary retail skincare, and products that work on the structure of the skin over time rather than just on the surface.

The range is organised by skin type and need, so there are ampoules, creams and serums for different things. That makes it easier to get right, and also easy to buy wrong on your own.

If you are unsure what your skin needs, start with a skin analysis. Then we recommend something because we have looked at your skin, not because we guessed.

Avivir Aloe Vera

For skin that reacts to almost everything.

Aloe vera is the first-aid plant of skincare, and Avivir uses a lot of it. Between 50 and 100 per cent active aloe, depending on the product.

The range is organic and carries Nordic environmental certification, with no perfume and no dyes at all. That is why we recommend it for broken, irritated and sensitive skin, and for children.

If you have worked your way through half the pharmacy without finding anything that does not sting, this is a reasonable place to start.

Fru Timian spice blends

A little unexpected in a salon, but it is one of the things people most often leave with.

Fru Timian makes ready-mixed spice blends from natural ingredients, put together so you do not have to measure out five things yourself. We stock taco, gold, pizza and fish blends among others.

The tins are smart enough to leave out on the kitchen counter, which is why they go out of here as a host gift about as often as for people's own cooking.
